First foster, they told me you weren't worth the effort, the time, the expense.  At 6 months old and only 19 pounds, you had already suffered more than a lifetime of abuse when you were found in Baton Rouge.  My silly little Cajun Boy, my Dilleroo, they didn't know - love does conquer all.

You leave behind an empty space that can never be filled.  We are all lost without you.  I will miss your funny face.

Godspeed, My Sweet Baby Boy

Perhaps they aren't stars, but openings in Heaven where the love of our children with fur pours through and shines down upon us to let us know they are at peace.

Cali
CALIFORNIA DREAMING It was clear that there was something special about this pup born on Christmas Eve in 1996. A standout from the rest of his litter, he was the only puppy to fetch a ball at 6 weeks old. He was ours. From that day on, fetching was his delight in life. He would chase whatever we were willing to throw at him, and if we didn’t come prepared, he would take it upon himself to find something for us. Usually, to our dismay, it was the biggest, muddiest log available. Born in California, Cali had a deep passion for water- of course getting him out of the water was no easy task. We would have to load up the car and act like we were going to leave him there at the beach before he would come out. A lover of life, Cali also loved his family and was always our fierce protector. From this job he never took a vacation. He gave our family a strong sense of security, but was also just as gentle with children and the elderly alike. Cali was an old soul- we could see it when he stared at us with those deep brown eyes (especially when we were holding food). Although short, we had the privilege of spending 12 ½ great years with him until cancer took him swiftly away. And even though he will be missed, his memory and the joy he brought his family and friends will live on.

Honey
A hopeful heart broken becomes bitter with pain and disappointment. You deserved better from this world.

Onyx
Our wonderful pup has been relenquished to cancer. He was put to sleep this morning. In late September, a fibrus lump was found on his back haunch next to the colon. After inspection by Dr. Z, a recommended trip to the cancer clinic for a biopsy was done.......twice, to be certain. The location of the tumor was on the colon, so it could not be removed. Due to the type of cancer and it's aggressive growth we determind that all the money in in the world on debulking and treatment, at the most, might have given him another couple of months with us. The quality of life would be one of radiation, kemo and possible infection from surgery. Jordan and I chose to give him all that life has for our wonderful pup and make the decision to put him down when discomfort came into his life. Last nite, Onyx had a cheese burger and tater tots for dinner. This morning we went out for breakfast to "The Nook" in Tomball and shared a bacon and cheese omlett, biscuits and gravy, and of course, more bacon, along with jelly on buttered toast........not so much for the jelly. He loved the long truck ride. Before leaving the house, he enjoyed chasing the ever loved frisbee, which has been replaced more than once. We even let him chase the neighbor's guinny hens out of the yard much to his delight. Thank you for allowing Jordan and I give Onyx the home and life, this regal breed so deserves. He had the most amazing personalilty. So standoffish to visiters, yet brought so much laughter to our lives. He was a loving member of our family.

Gus
