If only Elsa could talk, perhaps we could solve the mystery of how she ended up on a busy street during rush hour with a broken leg.  Her injuries indicate that Elsa was probably hit by a car, but how did she wind up in the street to begin with?

Elsa's tibia and patella (kneecap) are both fractured and the injury is about 2-3 weeks old.  There is some nerve damage that keeps Elsa from being able to properly plant her foot on the ground.  Although the leg has started healing on it's own, there may be complications from not having received immediate medical attention.  For now, we're taking a conservative approach, splinting the leg for 6-8 weeks and monitoring the healing.  However, if there is no improvement to the nerves and/or the growth plates have been damaged, it may become necessary to amputate Elsa's leg.

Elsa's life has been saved, thanks to the selfless act of a woman who took a few minutes out of her busy day to rescue her from traffic, but Elsa has a long road to recovery ahead of her.  Weekly examinations, splint changes and x-rays mean rapidly mounting medical expenses, and your help would be greatly appreciated.  If you can spare just the smallest amount, please contact us for information about how to donate to Elsa's Fund.
